Miguel Sapochnik, one of the showrunners of HBO's eagerly anticipated Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon, has apparently quit the project.
The producer of the mega-popular show reportedly remarked, "Working within the GOT universe for the past few years has been a pleasure and a luxury," according to E! News.
Sapochnik continued:
"Particularly enjoying the final two with the fantastic House of the
Dragon cast and crew. I am ecstatic by the positive response from our viewers
and so proud of what we were able to accomplish in season one."
HBO reports that the second
season will be directed by the show's co-producer Ryan Condal, who will work
with another seasoned Game of Thrones producer to do so.
Sapochnik added, "It
was really difficult to decide to move on, but I know that it is the best
choice for me, emotionally and professionally," in further explanation of
his early departure.
But knowing that Alan will
be a part of the show gives me a great deal of comfort as I do this. I've known
and admired him for a very long time, and I think this priceless series could
not be in safer hands," he continued. Sapochnik will continue to serve as
the program's executive producer until the finish.
