Foreign Office official Vicky Ford stated that the country's courts should decide Imran Khan's future as she described help following the "awful tragedy" of flooding across the country.
Ms. Ford added that
"any decision to advance charges" was "a matter for Pakistan's
legal community" and that the UK was "watching the situation with the
former prime minister of Pakistan very closely."
Sam Tarry, a Labour MP from
Ilford South, said in the Commons, "I would really like to see not only
that we press through all diplomatic channels for a fair and transparent
process regarding the former prime minister of Pakistan, but more importantly
that we increase the meager £1.5 million that we have committed to help
Pakistan in terms of aid directly from the UK at a time of such disaster when
we have such strong bilateral relations between our countries.
