In accordance with a new visa regulation that was put into place by the Chinese authorities on August 24, Pakistani students have begun leaving China.
After the new policy went
into force, Bilal Khan, a Ph.D. student at East China Normal University (ECNU) in
Shanghai, was permitted to return to China.
He said the procedure was
simple and the authorities were helpful. Khan did add that students must follow
quarantine rules and work with officials if they want to have a trouble-free
time.
On a Pakistan International
Airlines (PIA) flight to the Chinese city of Xi'an, Khan was travelling with
another student. Post-doctoral students made up the majority of the Pakistani
passengers on the aircraft, and several of them also possessed Chinese work
visas.
According to the facts, Khan
posted on social media that he was moving to Xi'an in compliance with the new
policy, and several responses from Pakistani students studying in China
suggested that their own application processes were in motion.
The students added that, in
accordance with the new Chinese government policy recommendations, their
universities had advised them to start planning for their return as soon as
possible.
Ji Rong, the Counselor at
the Department of Asian Affairs at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(MFA), was praised by the students for his tireless efforts in promoting the
return of foreign students to China.
