Since there aren't many state-owned road-going cargo haulers in Pakistan, private transporters have a huge advantage.
Federal Minister for
Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives (PD&SI) Ahsan Iqbal recognized
the problem and authorized the creation of a government-run cargo shuttle
service between Lahore and Karachi.
Both the general population
and traders frequent these two metropolitan areas, and both require logistics
services. Once they are in operation, the cargo shuttles will take care of
these organizations' transportation requirements.
These directives were given
by Iqbal on Friday during the National Logistics Board's (NLB) 66th meeting. He
declared that starting a cargo shuttle service was urgently needed in order to
better serve the public.
The meeting was also
attended by the Quartermaster General, the Director General (DG) National
Logistics Cells (NLC), the Secretary of the PD&SI ministry, and other board
members.
A special focus was placed
on the organization's successes and long-term development objectives as DG NLC
updated the participants on operational, administrative, and financial issues.
The board also discovered
that the firm wants to expand its fleet to 900 cars. Additionally, it intends
to increase the fleet's size by 200 additional trucks in FY 2022–2023 to a
total of 1,100 vehicles.
